About us

Welcome to our farm, where the old ways are cherished and the lost arts are kept alive. Growing up in a small town in New Mexico during the seventies, I learned the value of self-sufficiency and the beauty of handmade goods. With the nearest store 45 miles away, we grew, raised, and made everything we needed.

I have fond memories of helping preserve our garden’s bounty, and watching Granny make lye soap over an open fire. These experiences instilled in me a deep appreciation for traditional skills and a passion for sharing them with others. At Fun At The Gathering Farm, we are dedicated to preserving these timeless crafts and teaching them to a new generation. Whether it’s through workshops, tutorials, or simply sharing our stories, we aim to inspire and empower others to embrace the art of self-reliance and creativity.

In 2009, I met and married my sweetheart Robin, and moved to Atwater, Ohio. Robin has called Atwater home since 1962. In 1989, he purchased the charming farm on Porter Road, which boasts a rich history spanning over 170 years. Together, we have dedicated ourselves to renovating our home and restoring the barn. While we don’t keep animals on our farm, we cultivate and harvest ingredients for our handmade soaps, lotions, Jams, Spicy Mustard and other products. As passionate beekeepers, we are deeply committed to the conservation of bees, butterflies, and native pollinators. Thanks to a grant from The Bee and Butterfly Habitat Fund, we were able to plant 5.5 acres of over 150 different varieties of flowers for our pollinator friends. Our friends often remark that the farm feels like a little slice of heaven or their own private park. Inspired by their comments, Robin and I decided it was too special to keep to ourselves. And so, Fun at the Gathering Farm was born. Our vision for the farm is to create a destination where you can feel at home. We invite you to gather with your closest friends and family to enjoy wholesome outdoor fun. Unplug and participate in activities that harken back to the good old days. Whether you’re hosting a party or reception in the barn, taking a class, exploring the bee and butterfly field, picking sunflowers, wandering through the woods, having a bonfire, camping, or enjoying a family picnic or sunset dinner, we want you to make lasting memories here.
